We believe this high pressure silicone grease to be the best solution to the issues associated with assembly and disassembly of ultrasonic tooling.
The function of grease in the joint is to:
1. Fill the microscopic valleys in the surface of the tooling to improve acoustic transfer from one component to the next.
2. Remain in the joint so the metal of the two pieces of tooling do not become "clad" together by the action of the ultrasound and thus impossible to disassemble.
The correct amount of grease to apply is that which completely coats both surfaces and not any more. Attempting to wipe off the grease from the tool with a grease-coated finger generally leaves about the right amount on the surfaces. Grease is never applied to the stud. Never use both grease and a polymer washer in the same joint.
Could you do us a favor? If you want something and we don't have it on the site, like a replacement for a 502 or 802 converter or 200- or 400/800-style booster, please let us know by email. Thanks!
